Website-building platform Boxmode has partnered with the customized community management and social media platform NING.
Boxmode is partnering with NING, whose platform powers more than 2 million social networks. This way, the website builder aims to transform into a solution that will become an affordable and easy-to-use WordPress alternative.
The agreement to work together with NING will allow the website builder to speed up its transformation into a web engagement management (WEM) system. Boxmode CEO Max Yarchevsky explains, “I had been working in the community builder market for three years before founding Boxmode. This expertise, along with regular customer feedback, helped us define the direction for growth. The WEM system is versatile and more complex than a traditional content management system (CMS) that focuses solely on content. Such a system allows for aggregating and leveraging data across different channels most efficiently. As a result, organizations can avoid data silos.”
NING will provide the required back-end infrastructure — a headless content management system (CMS) — to help Boxmode achieve this goal. Thanks to its architecture (the back end and front end are separated from each other), the headless CMS allows users to benefit from the content-first approach. The method entails creating, storing, and managing all content in a single repository in the cloud and delivering it to any device or channel (site, mobile apps, OTT platforms, wearables, etc.) via APIs. With a traditional CMS, one can only present content to a website it is coupled with.
Other advantages of headless CMS include ease of use, scalability, flexibility in development, enhanced security.
NING product manager Valeria Tkachenko said*, “NING has been working on the headless content management system (CMS) for some time now. We believe that our experience allows us to create a multifunctional solution that will suit the needs of many businesses. The partnership with Boxmode will also let us showcase how our vast content management expertise can be combined with the newest design and UX experience that Boxmode brings to the table.”*
This partnership enables Boxmode users to add blogs to their projects as NING’s Blog widget has been recently integrated with the solution. The team is currently working on improvements to the Blog widget MVP.
The Member Area will be another new capability. The feature will allow website members to register their accounts to access paid gated content (online courses, exclusive articles, podcasts, community pages, etc.) and exchange direct messages or emails with a project owner. In turn, a project owner will be able to add, remove, and restore members, create user groups based on memberships and open specific content for each group. Privacy settings will also be in place: data on closed community members will be hidden, and its transfer to social media will be restricted.
NING is the SaaS platform for creating websites with great social integrations. It can be used to create a fan website, a place for discussion for a nonprofit organization, or a website for providing member-only access to its exclusive content. NING sites are customizable and scalable, and they feature fast hosting, in-depth analytics, and advanced monetization options. The company's new b2b revenue stream includes providing partners with back end infrastructure for the development of forums, blogs, and member areas.
